PASSOVER/UNLEAVENED BREAD IN THE TORAH
Exodus 12:1-51
Exo 12: And יהוה spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, to say, 2 This renewed month shall be to you the head of renewed months: he shall be to you the first for the renewed months of the Year.
3 Speak to all of the Congregation of Israel, to say, On the ten of this renewed month, and they shall take a man for themselves a lamb for a house of their father, a lamb for the house: 4 And if the household shall be little with being with the lamb, and he and his tabernacler (inhabitor) that is near [(, the one near)] to his house shall take on the enumeration (number, assessment) of the souls; You shall count (assess) upon the lamb a man by the mouth of his eating. 5 A lamb shall be a perfect (complete) remembered one (male) of a son of a year: shall be for yourselves from the sheep, and you shall take from the kids (young goats):
6 And shall be for you to guard (observe, heed) until the four ten (fourteen) day of (for) this renewed month: and all of the Assembly of the Congregation of Israel, they shall slaughter him between the mixing periods. 7 And they shall take from the blood and they shall give him upon the two side posts, and upon the upper door post (lentil) upon the houses which they shall eat him in them. 8 And they shall eat את-the flesh in this night roasted of fire; and they shall eat unleavened upon bitters (bitter foods, bitter herbs). 9 You shall not eat from him raw (tough), and sodden (boiling) from boiling in water, for but roasted of fire; his head shall be upon (over) his shoulder legs and upon (over) his nearness (inwards). 10 And you shall not have yether-remain (have a remnant) from him until breaking period (morning); and of that yether-remaining (remnant, rest) from him until breaking period (morning) you shall burn up in the fire. 11 And according to [(as)] thus, you shall eat him with your loins (waist) girded, your sandals on your feet, and your shoots (sticks, germinated sticks) in your hand; And you shall eat him in haste (hasty flight): He is the Passover to יהוה .
12 And I will go over in the land of Egypt in this night, and will strike every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from Adam and unto animal; and I will do (make, execute) judgments (ordinances) on all of the elohim of Egypt: I am יהוה.
13 And the blood shall be to (for) you for a Sign upon the houses which you are there: And I will see את-the blood, I will pass by, over (upon) you, and the plague shall not be on you to be destroyed in My striking in the land of Egypt. 14 And this day shall be to you for a Memorial (Remembrance); and you shall celebrate (make festive of) him of a Feast to יהוה for your generations; you shall celebrate (make festive of) him of a Statute of Ages.
15 Seven days shall you shall eat unleavened; Surely, on the first day you shall desist (cease, rid) sourdough from your houses: for anyone eating leavened from the first day unto the seventh day, and that soul shall be cut off her from Israel. 16 And on the first day shall be a Sacred (Holy) Calling (Convocation), and on the seventh day shall be a Sacred (Holy) Calling (Convocation) to yourselves; Any work shall not be done in them, surely which shall be eaten by every soul, he by his apartness shall be done to you [(by his aloneness, he shall be done to you)]. 17 And you will guard (keep, observe, heed) the Feast of את-the Unleavened; for on this same day, I have brought out את-your armies from the land of Egypt: and you will guard (keep, observe, heed) את-this day for your generations for a Statute of Ages.
18 In the first, on the four ten (fourteen) day of the renewed month, in the mixing period (evening), you shall eat unleavened, until the one and twenty day of the renewed month in the mixing period (evening). 19 Sourdough shall not be found in your houses seven days: for anyone eating from the leavened, and that soul shall be cut off her from the Congregation of Israel, among the sojourner, and among the native of the land. 20 You shall not eat any leavened; you shall eat unleavened in all of your dwellings.
21 And Moses called for all of the Elders of Israel, and said to them, Draw out and take [(They shall draw out, and they shall take)] for yourselves of the flock for your families, and slaughter the Passover. 22 And you shall take a bundle (bunch) of hyssop, and you shall dip in the blood which is in the bason (bowl), and you shall smite (antiplague, plague) to the upper door post (lintel) and to the two side posts from the blood which is in the basin; and you, a man of you shall not go out from the entrance of his house until breaking period (morning). 23 And יהוה will go over to plague (gore, stumble) את-Egypt; and shall see את-the blood upon the upper door post (lintel) and upon the two side posts, and יהוה will pass by over (upon) the entrance, and will not give the destroyer to come to your houses to plague (gore, stumble). 24 And you shall guard (keep, observe, heed) את-this Word for a Statute to yourself and to your sons unto ages.
25 And shall be, when you come to the land which יהוה will give to you as the which was spoken, and you shall guard (keep, observe, heed) את-this Service. 26 And shall be, when your sons, they shall say to you, What is this service to you? 27 And you shall say, He is the Sacrifice of the Passover to יהוה which passed by over (upon) the houses of the Sons of Israel in Egypt, in His plaguing (goreing, stumbling) את-Egypt, and delivered (rescued) את-our houses. And the People bowed, and they worshipped. 28 And the Sons of Israel, they went, and they did as the which יהוה commanded את-Moses and Aaron, so they did.
29 And was, in the middle (halfway) of the night, and יהוה struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat upon his throne, unto the firstborn of the captive which was in the house of the bore-prison; and every firstborn of animals.
30 And Pharaoh arose at night, he, and all his servants, and all of Egypt; and she was a great cry in Egypt; for was not a house which a dead one (a death) was not there. 31 And called for Moses and for Aaron at night, and said, Arise! and go out from the midst of my people, also you, also the Sons of Israel; And go, serve את-יהוה according to [(as)] your word! 32 Take also your flocks, also your herds as the which you spoke, and go; And you bless me also!
33 And Egypt, she was strong upon the people to hasten to send them away from the land; for they said, All of us will be dead ones. 34 And the people lifted (bore, carried) את-his dough before (not yet) becoming leavened, their kneading troughs were bound in their clothes upon their shoulders. 35 And the Sons of Israel, they did according to [(as)] the word of Moses; and they asked from Egypt vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing: 36 And יהוה gave the People את-grace (favor) in the eyes of את-Egypt, and was asked of them, and they plundered את-Egypt.
37 And the Sons of Israel, they journeyed (pulled up) from Rameses to Succoth according to [(as)] six hundred thousand mighty men of foot, by apart from the little ones. 38 And also a mixed multitude ascended with them; and flocks, and herds, much heavy livestock.
39 And they baked את-the dough which they brought out from Egypt of unleavened round cakes, for was not leavened; For they were driven out from Egypt, and and they were not able to delay (tarry, linger) her, and also they did not do (make, prepare) for themselves provision (victuals, game food).
40 And the dwelling of the Sons of Israel, which they dwelled in Egypt was thirty years and four hundred years. 41 And was from the end of thirty years and four hundred years, and was in this same day, all of the armies of יהוה, they went out from the land of Egypt. 42 He was a Night of Observation (Guarding, Heeding) to יהוה for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: he is this night to יהוה an Observance (Guarding, Heeding) for all of the Sons of Israel for their generations.
43 And יהוה said to Moses and Aaron, This is the Statute of the Passover: Every son of a foreigner shall not eat on him: 44 And every servant of a man purchased (bought) of silver, and you shall circumcise him, then shall eat on him. 45 A dweller (foreign dweller) and a hired servant shall not eat on him. 46 Shall be eaten in one house; you shall not go out from the flesh from the house to the outside; and you shall not shever-break a bone on him. 47 All of the Congregation of Israel, they shall do (make, prepare) him. 48 And when a sojourns (stranger) shall sojourn with you, and shall do the Passover to יהוה, every remembered one (male) to him shall be circumcised, and then shall come near to do (make, prepare) him; and shall be like the native of the land: and anyone uncircumcised shall not eat on him. 49 One Teaching (Torah) shall be to the native and to the sojourner that sojourns in your midst. 50 And all of the Sons of Israel, they did as the which יהוה commanded את-Moses and את-Aaron, so they did. 51 And was on this same day that hwhy brought out את-the Sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, upon their armies.
Exodus 13:6-16
6 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh shall be a Feast to יהוה.
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten את the seven days; and leavened bread shall not be seen by you, and sourdough shall not be seen by you in all of your borders.
8 And you shall tell (declare, explain) to your son in that day, to say, In order (In over) יהוה did this for me in my coming out from Egypt. 9 And shall be to you for a Sign upon your hand, and for a Memorial between your eyes, by that, the Teaching (Torah) of יהוה, she will be in your mouth: for on a Strong Hand יהוה brought you out from Egypt. 10 And you shall guard (observe, heed) את-this Statute to her Appointed Time from days to days.
11 And shall be when יהוה shall bring you to the land of the Canaanites as the which was sworn to you and to your fathers, and gives her to you, 12 and you will go over every opener (burster forth, cleaver forth) of the womb for hwhy, and of every opener (burster forth, cleaver forth) offspringed (ejected) of an animal which shall belong to you; the remembered ones (males) shall belong to יהוה.
13 And you shall redeem every opener (burster forth, cleaver forth) of a donkey on a lamb; and if you will not redeem, and you shall neck break him: and every firstborn of Adam in your midst, you shall redeem.
14 And shall be, when your son asks you at a later time [(asks you later)], to say, What is this? And you shall say to him, On the Strong Hand, יהוה brought us out from Egypt, from the house of slaves (slavery, bondage): 15 And was, when Pharaoh was hardened to send us away, and יהוה killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Adam, and unto the firstborn of animals: Upon thus, I sacrifice to יהוה all of the remembered ones (males) opening (bursting forth, cleaving forth) the matrix (womb); and I redeem every firstborn of my sons.
16 And shall be for a Sign upon your hand, and for Frontlets between your eyes: for on a Strong Hand, יהוה brought us out from Egypt.
In other words, from chapter thirteen, verse six, that on the last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, we are to have a "Matsa Banquet".
Did you know that hwhy had an ulterior motive for us to have a banquet on the last day, and His reason for us to have a "Matsa Banquet" is to utilize the rest of the unleavened bread on the last day? That's a "good" ulterior motive.
Looking at the word PASSOVER
The Hebrew word for Passover is "peh-sakh"- Peh, Samek, Khet (פסח). It is from Strong's Concordance number 6453, and its definition
From H6452; a pretermission, that is, exemption; used only technically of the [Israelite] Passover (the festival or the victim): - passover (offering).
from 6452 "pah-sakh" (פסח), and its definition
A primitive root; to hop, that is, (figuratively) skip over (or spare); by implication to hesitate; also (literally) to limp, to dance: - halt, become lame, leap, pass over.
This was יהוה's act to Passover the Israelites who have the blood on their upper door posts and side door posts.
THE THREE ELEMENTS OF THE PASSOVER
Looking at Exodus 12:8 again
Exo12:8 And they shall eat את-the flesh [the lamb] in this night, roasted of fire, and unleavened bread; upon bitters, they shall eat.
It does show "four" or "five" or more, but "three". These three elements have symbolic meanings:
The Lamb: Yeshua as the Passover Lamb
Unleavened Bread: Yeshua being without sin
Bitter Herbs: Yeshua taking on the "bitterness" of the sins in our lives at the cross
THE LEAVENING ELEMENTS
There are two elements mentioned to remove:
SOURDOUGH
And the Israelites left Rameses on the fifteenth day
Number 33:3 And they pulled up from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; from after the Passover, they went out, the Sons of Israel on a High Hand to the eyes of all of the Egyptians.
Looking at the word SOURDOUGH
In Exodus 12:15, the word sourdough in Hebrew is "s'ohr"- Shin, Aleph, Resh (שאר). It is from Strong's number 7603, from 7604, and its definition
"barm or yeast cake (as swelling by fermentation): - leaven".
This word is where we get our modern English word "sour", where we get "sourdough". This leaven of sourdough is a living organism, and it represents "sin" in our lives that does not die. It could also be symbolic of sin developing to become part of one's sinful nature, because it is alive and it will keep growing. This is symbolically one of the acts of getting rid of the sin in our lives. An example of this is in the Apostle Paul's letter to the assembly in Corinth
1 Corinthians 5:6
1 Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Messiah, our Passover, is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the Feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the Unleavened Bread of sincerity and truth.
LEAVENED BREAD
Looking at the word LEAVENED BREAD
Also in Exodus 12:15, leavened bread is from the Hebrew word "khah-meyts" (חמץ). It is from Strong's number 2557, from 2556, and its definition
"ferment, (figuratively) extortion: - leaven, leavened (bread)".
This is the cooked part of the "sourdough". It is also a representation of sin being part of our nature in our lives, and this is the other reason we need to get rid of it before or during Passover, and completely out before The Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Notice in Exodus 12:15-20 that it did not say that one rids of the leaven, meaning the leavened bread, the cooked product, but only the sourdough starter, meaning the living organism, symbolic of sin growing. Why? I don't know, though the observing Jews and for us as believers in Messiah do throw out the leaven as well to make sure that we don't eat the leavened bread during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Maybe that is why hwhy said that no "sourdough", and not "sourdough and leavened bread", and that is why it says in Exodus 12:19 that anyone eating leavened bread shall be cut off. Is hwhy saying that it is ok to keep the unleavened bread in the homes and just throw out the sourdough? That requires hwhy to explaing this to me. In other words, I don't have the answer to that at this time.
Leviticus 23:4-8
Lev 23:4 These are the Appointed Times of יהוה, Sacred (Holy) Convocations (Callings), which you shall proclaim in their appointed times. 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, between the mixings, is the Passover to יהוה.
6 And on the fifteenth day of this month is the Feast of the Unleavened Bread to יהוה: seven days of unleavened bread you shall eat. 7 On the first day, shall be to you a Holy Calling: you shall not do any work of service. 8 And you shall bring a Fire Offering to יהוה seven days: on the seventh day is a Holy Calling: you shall not do any work of service.
Numbers 28:16-25
Num 28:16 And in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, is the Passover to יהוה.
17 And on the fifteenth day of this month is a feast: seven days of unleavened bread shall be eaten. 18 On the first day shall be a Holy Calling; you shall not do any work of service: 19 And you shall bring a Fire Offering: an Elevation Offering (Ascension Offering, Burnt Offering) to יהוה; two bullocks sons of a herd, and one ram, and seven lambs sons of a year: perfect ones they shall be to you: 20 And their Donation Offering (Tribute Offering, Food Offering, Grain Offering) shall be of flour mixed in the oil: three tenths for the bullock, and two tenths for the ram, you shall do; 21 A tenth, a tenth you shall do for the one lamb, for the seven lambs: 22 And one goat for a Sin Offering, to atone upon yourselves. 23 Apart the Elevation Offering (Ascension Offering, Burnt Offering) of the breaking period (morning), which is for the Continual Elevation Offering (Continual Ascension Offering, Continual Burnt Offering)), you shall do את-these. 24 As these you shall do for the day of the seven days of bread of a Fire Offering, of a pleasant scent to יהוה: upon the Continual Elevation Offering shall be done, and his Drink Offering. 25 And on the seventh day shall be to you a Holy Calling; you shall not do any work of service.
Deuteronomy 16:1-8
Deu 16:1 Observe the month of the Aviv, and you shall keep the Passover to יהוה, your Elohim: for in את-the month of the Aviv יהוה, your Elohim, brought you from Egypt by night. 2 And you shall sacrifice a Passover to יהוה, your Elohim, of the flock and of the herd, in the place which יהוה shall choose to dwell His Name there. 3 You shall not eat leavened bread upon him; seven days you shall eat upon him unleavened bread, the Bread of Affliction; for in haste, you came out from the land of Egypt: by that, you may remember את-the day you came out from the land of Egypt all of the days of your life. 4 And sourdough shall not be seen to you in all of your borders seven days; and shall not remain from the flesh, which you sacrificed in the mixing period (evening), in the first day, to the breaking period (morning). 5 You are not able to sacrifice את-the Passover in one of your gates, which יהוה, your Elohim, is giving to you: 6 For but to the place which יהוה, your Elohim, shall choose to dwell His Bame there, you shall sacrifice את-the Passover in the mixing period (evening), as the sun goes, at the Appointed Time of your coming out from Egypt. 7 And you shall roast, and you shall eat in the place which יהוה, your Elohim, shall choose among Himself: and you shall face in the breaking period (morning), and you shall go to your tents. 8 Six days you shall eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a Solemn Assembly to יהוה, your Elohim: you shall not do work.
I've heard some that say that they can hide it in a garage during Passover and Unleavened Bread and afterwards retrieve it back. Though there is no literal mention to throw it out of the premises but "not be seen" from verse four in this Deuteronomy passage, I do not keep any leavened bread or sourdough hidden, but I throw it out completely and buy it after the feast is over. As I mentioned above, the sourdough and leavened bread represents sin. If one "hides" the leavened bread, symbolically one "hides" the sin and just retrieves the sin back. So symbolically, in my humble opinion, one should get rid of it entirely.

ACTS OF THE PASSOVER IN THE POST TORAH ERA, IN THE TANAKH
Joshua 5:10-12
Jos 5:10 And the sons of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept את-the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month in the mixing period (evening) in the plains of Jericho. 11 And they ate from the stored grain of the land from the morrow of the Passover, unleavened bread, and parched grain in this same day. 12 And the manna ceased in the morrow in their eating from the stored grain of the land; and manna was not again for the Sons of Israel; and they ate from the produce of the land of Canaan in her year.
At the start of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the manna stopped.
King Josiah of Judah restored the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread since the time of Judges
2 Kings 23:21-23
2 Ki 23:21 And the king commanded all of the People, to say, Do the Passover to יהוה, your Elohim, as it is written upon the Scroll of the Covenant. 22 For was not holden as this Passover from the days of the judges who judged Israel, and all the days of the kings of Israel, and the kings of Judah; 23 For but in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, was holden this Passover to יהוה in Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 35:1-19
2Ch 35:1 And Josiah kept a Passover to יהוה in Jerusalem: and they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month. 2 And set the Priests upon their charges, and encouraged them to the Service of the House of יהוה,
3 And said to the Levites, the ones with understanding, of all Israel, the ones Holy to hwhy, Put thou את-the Holy Ark in the house which built Solomon, son of David, King of Israel; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: now, serve את-hwhy, your Elohim, and את his People, Israel, 4 And set up by the houses of your fathers, according to your sections, in the writing of David, King of Israel, and in with the writing of Solomon, his son. 5 And stand in the Holy Place to the divisions of the house of the fathers of your brethren, sons of the People, and the distributions of the house of the father of the Levites. 6 And kill the Passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare to your brethren, to do according to the Word of יהוה by the hand of Moses. 7 And Josiah gave to the sons of the People, a flock of lambs and sons of kids, all for the Passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand oxen: these were from the king's substance. 8 And his princes were of spontaneity to the People, to the Priests, and to the Levites: And they raised Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of The Elohim, they gave to the Priests for the Passover Offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen. 9 And Conaniah and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, raised unto the Levites for Passover offerings five thousand, and five hundred oxen. 10 And the service was prepared, and the Priests stood in their standings, and the Levites upon their sections, according to the king's commandment. 11 And they killed the Passover, and the Priests, they sprinkled from their hands, and the Levites, they stripped them. 12 And they removed the Elevation Offerings (Ascension Offerings, Burnt Offerings), to give them according to the divisions of the houses of the fathers of the sons of the People, to bring to יהוה, as written in the book of Moses. And so of the oxen. 13 And they roasted the Passover in the fire according to the Ordinance: and the Sacred (Holy) Offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and they divided speedily to all the sons of the People. 14 And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the Priests: because the Priests the sons of Aaron were in the elevating of Elevation Offerings (Ascension Offerings, Burnt Offerings) and their kheylev-fat until night; and the Levites, they were preparing for themselves, and for the Priests, the sons of Aaron. 15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were upon their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's Seer; and the Doorkeepers were to a gate and a gate; not for them to depart from upon their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared. 16 And all of the Service of hwhy was prepared in this day, to keep the Passover, and to elevate the Elevation Offerings (Ascension Offerings, Burnt Offerings) upon the Altar of יהוה, according to the commandment of the king Josiah. 17 And the Sons of Israel that were present kept ta-the Passover in her time, and את-the Feast of Unleavened bread seven days. 18 And not was made a Passover like him in Israel from the days of Samuel, the Prophet; and all of the kings of Israel not made as a Passover which Josiah kept, and the Priests, and the Levites, and all of Judah and Israel that were present, and the dwellers of Jerusalem. 19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this Passover kept.
In verse ten of the Chronicles passage, it starts with the phrase
10. ...And the service was prepared
But researching the Hebrew definition of service, it can alternately be interpreted as this:
10 ...And the bondservant was raised
This phrase is a type and shadow of Yeshua being raised on the cross on Passover.
The Southern House of Judah returned to the land after their senety years of captivity in Babylon, they celebrate the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread
Ezra 6:19-22
Ezra 6:19 And the sons of the captivity, they kept the Passover on the fourteenth of the first month. 20 For the Priests and the Levites were purified as one, all of them were pure, and they killed the Passover for all the sons of the captivity, and for their brethren, the Priests, and for themselves. 21 And the sons of Israel, the ones returned from captivity, they ate, and all of the ones that separated themselves from the uncleanness of the nation of the land to them, to seek to יהוה Elohim of Israel. 22 And kept the Feast of Unleavened bread seven days in joy: for יהוה had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of the Elohim, Elohim of Israel.
THE PASSOVER AND THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD IN THE BRITH KHADASHAH (THE NEW COVENANT)
As we all know, Yeshua was the Passover Lamb. This the time frame of the event during Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Yeshua giving the Passover bread and wine to His disciples
Luke 22:14-20
Luke 22:14 And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 And He said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the Kingdom of יהוה.
17 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of יהוה shall come.
19 And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My Body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood, which is shed for you.
The Passover in the Brith Khadashah (the New Covenant) is also called "Preparation Day"
Matthew 27:62
Mat 27:62 Now the next day, that followed the Day of the Preparation, the Chief Priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Mark 15:42
Mar 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the Preparation, that is, the day before the Shabbath [1st day of Unleavened Bread],
Luke 23:54
Luk 23:54 And that day was the Preparation, and the Shabbath [1st day of Unleavened Bread] drew on.
John 19:14
Joh 19:14 And it was the Preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
John 19:31
Joh 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Shabbath day [1st day of Unleavened Bread], (for that Shabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
John 19:42
Joh 19:42 There laid they Yeshua therefore because of the Jews' Preparation Day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
The reason it is called Preparation Day, because it does not mean that the sourdough and the leavened had to be thrown out on Passover/Preparation Day. In my opinion, the only exception would be if Passover/Preparation Day occurred on the regular Shabbath Day, then one would have to remove the sourdough and the leavened bread on the Sixth Day before Shabbath, which is a non work day. Other than that, the leavened bread and the sourdough would still be able to exist in the homes on Passover/Preparation Day, meaning that this is the day to remove the sourdough and the leavened bread from the homes before the first day of Unleavened Bread.

THE ISSUE OF THE SUN
QUESTION: WHAT IS THE ACCOUNT OF THE DARKENING OF THE SUN"?
This is the account of the sun, noted in the Gospel of Luke
Luke 23:44-45
Luk 23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened, and the Veil of the Temple was rent in the midst.
The only reason the sun would be darkened, because, first of all, the sun was not covered by clouds, otherwise if the sun was covered by clouds, they would not have emphasized that the sun was "visible".
QUESTION: "IF THE SUN WAS VISIBLE, WAS THE DARKENING OF THE SUN A SOLAR ECLIPSE"?
The sun was not darkened by a Solar Ecplipse, because for a Solar Eclipse to occur, the moon has to be in the same position with the sun which would cause the moon to be in front of the sun. This can only occur "before" the first day of the visible sighting of the moon which would start the Biblical lunar month. The Passover occurs on the "fourteenth day" of the month, and by the fourteenth day of the lunar month, the moon is nowhere near the sun, but on the "opposite" side of the earth and opposite of the sun. Therfore, it's impossible to have a Solar Eclipse on any Passover year.
QUESTION: "HOW WAS THE SUN DARKENED"?
The only sensible reason the sun was darkened was because it was a "supernatural" darkening of the sun that lasted for three hours between the sixth hour and the ninth hour, or between 12 PM and 3 PM. The darkened sun is represented, which is based from the Torah, when Joseph dreamed of the sun and moon and stars, the sun represented Jacob-Israel, Joseph's father, in the book of Genesis
Genesis 37:9-11
Gen 37:9 And dreamed still (yet) another dream, and accounted (scribed, enumerated, enrolled, scrolled) him to his brothers, and said, Behold, I have still (still have) calm-dreamed a calm-dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and the one ten (oneteen, eleven) stars were bowing to me. 10 And was accounted (scribed, enumerated, enrolled, scrolled) to his father, and to his brothers: and his father rebuked (reproved) against him, and said to him, What is this calm-dream which you have calm-dreamed? That coming, I and your mother and your brothers, we shall come to bow to you to the Earth? 11 And his brothers, they envied (were envious, were jealous, were zealous) against him; and his father guarded (observed, heeded) את-the word.
When Jacob heard this, he knew that the sun was the symbol of himself. Yeshua knew this account of Joseph's second dream. When the sun was darkened, this represented the Heavenly Father symbolically turning His face away from Yeshua, His son, and Yeshua realized this and knew what the Heavenly Father was doing.
QUESTION: "WHAT IS THE MOST LIKELY PURPOSE FOR THE SUN TO BE DARKENED"?
Let's say that the sun wasn't darkened, when Yeshua said "Eli, Eli, Lama Sabachtani?" in front of the people. The people wouldn't think much of it and would just say something like "Yeah, He's speaking to His Father. No big deal". But Abba Father wanted the people to have a "testimony" or "witness" that He has turned away from facing His Son, Yeshua. Abba Father knew that if He revealed Himself in a human-like format for people, they would have died, which is based in the book of Exodus
Exodus 33:18-20
Exo 33:18 And said, Make me see now את-Your Glory. 19 And said, I, I will make go over all of My Goodness upon (over) your face, and I will call (proclaim) in the Name of יהוה to your face; and I will engracen (favor) את-which I will engracen (favor), and I will mercify את-which I will mercify. 20 And said, You are not able to see את-My Face: for the Adam shall not see Me, and live.
So how can He do it? In what I noted above, Abba Father knew of Joseph's dream passage of the sun representing Jacob, Joseph's father, and the religious Jews knew of this passage too. So what a better way to give a witness of the Abba Father turning His Face away for the people to see by using the sun, which would be the symbol of a father as noted above in Joseph's dream by applying the sun to be "the symbol of the Abba Father" in having the sun "supernaturally darkened" for a witness and for a testimony to the people that He has turned away by supernatually darkening the sun. This would be a "Heavens-Earth" connection with the Abba Father to the people on earth for the people to see that the Abba Father turned away from Yeshua. This would provide more of an impact on the people when Yeshua said "Eli, Eli, lama sabachtani?" than if the sun was still shining, and would make the people see that there was a connection between Yeshua and the Abba Father, symbolized by the sun.
Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries proved this premise, which is noted in the book of the prophet Amos, in my retranslation
Amos 8:9 And be in that (his) day, states Adonai יהוה, that I will make the sun to go away in the noontime, and I will make dark the earth in the lighted (clear) day: 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all of your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make her as the mourning of an only one (son), and her latter end shall be as a bitter day.

THANK YOU MARK!!! :)
This is a rough sketch, not according to scale, of the darkened sun at the sixth hour of the day. It shows the darkened sun (the Heavenly Father) directly above Jerusalem while Yeshua was on the cross
Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries also noted that in relation to the Torah of the Red Heifer that Yeshua was facing the Temple where His Father is present, and that is where Yeshua was looking when He asked His Father
Psalms 22:1
"Eli, Eli Lama Azavtani?"
In English
"My El, My El, why hast Thou forsaken Me?".
Yeshua made this statement on the ninth hour, while the sun was still darkened, as noted in the Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 27:45-53
Mat 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Yeshua cried with a Loud Voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My El, my El, why hast Thou forsaken Me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave Him to drink. 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save Him. 50 Yeshua, when He had cried again with a Loud Voice, yielded up the spirit. 51 And, behold, the Veil of the Temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the Holy City, and appeared unto many.
What Yeshua said in verse forty six of this Matthew passage is the Chaldean version of the Hebrew text noted in Psalms 22:1.
These other events, with the exception of the saints coming out after Yeshua was resurrected, also occurred on the ninth hour. By this time, the darkened sun (symbolically the Heavenly Father, still having His face turned away from Yeshua until His death) was in perspective from the Mount of Olives over the Temple. Also, when Yeshua said this, He was able to see the sun (a.k.a. the Heavenly Father), because the sun was well in Yeshua's view.
This is a rough sketch, not according to scale, of the darkened sun at the ninth hour of the day. It shows the darkened sun over the Temple while Yeshua was on the cross
THE TWO SPONGES
During the time of Yeshua's on the cross, I presumed that He was given only one sponge in two different accounts, in the Gospels. But I have realized that this was not the case, but He was given "two" different sponges while on the cross. The first sponge that was given to Yeshua was in the Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 27:34
Mat 27:34 They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when He had tasted thereof, He would not drink.
There is a reason Yeshua did not drink from this sponge. This is what the Biblestudytools.com website says regarding gall
"Heb. rosh. In Deuteronomy 32:33 and Job 20:16 it denotes the poison of serpents. In Hosea 10:4 the Hebrew word is rendered "hemlock." The original probably denotes some bitter, poisonous plant, most probably the poppy, which grows up quickly, and is therefore coupled with wormwood ( Deuteronomy 29:18 ; Jeremiah 9:15 ; Lamentations 3:19 ). Compare Jeremiah 8:14 ; 23:15 , "water of gall," Gesenius, "poppy juice;" others, "water of hemlock," "bitter water."
In other words, if Yeshua drank from this sponge with the gall. It would have killed Him, and would have made Yeshua die, and would finish Him prematurely before He stated "It is finished". In other words, HaSatan wanted Him to die prematurely before making the following statements before He properly died by giving up His spirit, by which the gall would have finished Yeshua before He completely finished His Objective and spoke "It is finished".
The second sponge is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew and John
Matthew 27:48
Mat 27:48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
John 19:29
Joh 19:28 After this, Yeshua knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to His Mouth.
This was the second sponge that Yeshua accepted to drink.
THE TWO THIEVES
Looking at the account of the two thieves in the Gospel of Luke
Luke 23:39-43
Luk 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on Him, saying, If Thou be the Messiah, save Thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear hwhy, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Yeshua, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom. 43 And Yeshua said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise.
These two thieves were symbols of the two houses of Israel:
The Thief Asking To Save Them: The Southern House of Judah
The Thief To Be Remembered: The Northern House of Israel/Joseph/Ephraim
THE NAME THAT WAS NAILED TO YESHUA'S CROSS
Looking at the account of the sign that was nailed to Yeshua's cross
John 19:22
Joh 19:19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, YESHUA OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. 20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Yeshua was crucified was nigh to the City: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. 21 Then said the Chief Priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that He said, I am King of the Jews. 22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
This is the $64,000 question, "Why did the Chief Priests of the Jews want the sign changed to 'I am King of the Jews' from 'The King of the Jews'"? This is the common image we have seen in our Christian lives of Yeshua at the cross with the sign above Him, showing the four letter "I, N, R, I" in Latin, which is the abbreviation for "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum". The "J" did not come into our English language until the 16th century. The Latin does not mean anything to the Jewish Chief Priests, but is in the Hebrew that they were looking at. This is what the say saw written in the sign in Hebrew:
ישוע הנצרי ומלך היהודים
This is the the phonetic translation of the Hebrew:
"Yeshua HaNatsree OoMelech HaYehudeem"
in English, it translates "Yeshua the Nazarite, and the King of the Jews". In Hebrew grammar, the English phrase "and the King", the Hebrew Vav used in this phrase, was in this case used as a prefix, commonly translated as "and the", next to the name or object, which is "king". The Hebrew words were most likely situated like this, in order to fit in the sign:
ישוע
הנצרי
ומלך
היהודים
Using the acronym method, if you highlight each of the first letters of each Hebrew word phrase, this is what we get
ישוע
הנצרי
ומלך
היהודים
When the chief priests of the Jews saw this acronym, they were seeing these four letters, going from right to left:
י ,ה ,ו ,ה
What they were seeing is "Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh, the Name of "hwhy", which means "the Eternal One". The Jewish leaders were offended, because they were seeing Yeshua acronomically called Y'hohwah. That is why they asked Pilate to change the phrase of His title, but Pilate refused.
TIME EVENTS (CONTINUED)
This date of the event is clear that it occurred on the fourteenth day, because after His death, it says in verse thirty-one of the Gospel of John
John 19:31
Joh 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Shabbath day, (for that Shabbath day was an High Day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

THE THREE DAYS
Looking at the account of the Yeshua's time line of His days buried in the earth, in the Gospels of Matthew and John
Mattew 12:39-40
Mat 12:39 But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
John 2:19
Joh 2:19 Yeshua answered and said unto them, Destroy this Temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
As I taught in the information of the Biblical teaching of First Fruits, Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries noted this. I give Mark Biltz of credit for the fomat of this chart. Looking at the various years the day of Passover fell
Mark Biltz noted that there is no mention in the Scriptures of a specific date when First Fruits starts, and no where in the scriptures when the fiftieth day of Shavuoth occurs. According to Mark, the Religious Jews always have the first count of the fifty days on Aviv 15 or 16, in order for the fifty days for the Shavuoth date to be Sivan 6. Mark says that the scriptures do not give a specific Biblical date for the First Fruits to start, because the annual calendar date of Passover varies from year to year. That is why, paraphrasing, it says to start First Fruits "from the morrow of the Shabbath" meaning "the first day of the new Biblical week". The Omer-sheaf is to be given on the first day of the Biblical week, and this day is also the day to start the fifty day count.
Regarding the three day issue, Jim Staley, formerly of Passion for Truth Ministries, noted in his teaching series "God's Prophetic Calendar" that a day is not an "inclusive reasoning" of how long a day is, because there are those who say that the first day started when Yeshua was buried on Friday afternoon and that counted as a day given that after the darkened sun gave its light again counting it as a day. Jim though noted this scripture in the Gospel of John
John 11:9
Joh 11:9 Yeshua answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
This Friday deal of a couple of hours before sunset is proven false based on what Yeshua said. In other words, part of the twenty four hour full day would have to include "twelve hours of the daytime" to make it count as a whole day. When Yeshua said that He was to be "three days and three nights" in the heart of the earth as noted earlier, they included the three "twelve hour daytime periods" for this prophecy to be fulfilled. Thank you Jim.
Giving credit to Mark Biltz also for most of the ideas of the artistic graphics on this next chart, it shows the time line of the three days of Yeshua being buried in the earth for three days and three nights before He was resurrected on the day of First Fruits Saturday night. We need to note that the Biblical new day starts at sundown, and not at midnight
Ending this, we can say as belivers in Yeshua, that hwhy, our Heavenly Father, sees the blood of Yeshua on us, and the Angel of Death will "passover" us from causing us eternal death, because we are covered by the Blood of the Lamb.
