KHANUKKAH

KHAG SAMEAKH, EVERYONE!!!

The historical account of Khanukkah occurred in the second century BC. It is about the Jews who were under Anitochus' rule in Judea. Antiochus was an evil ruler who forced the Jewish People from following the Torah, and assimilate to the Greek pagan culture. Antiochus went even further and ultimately defiled hwhy's Temple. One group of Jews, called the Maccabees, refused to submit to Antiochus' rule and revolted against his reign. They were against heavy odds with their forces against the mighty Greek army, but through a series of battles, the Maccabees defeated Antiochus' reign in the land and reclaimed Judea and the Temple. They also cleansed hwhy's Temple, rededicated it to Him, and claimed an eight day celebration for a remembrance of the temple's rededication starting on the 25th of Kislev. They called the feast celebration Khanukkah.

The Hebrew word for dedication is "khah-nook-kah"- Khet, Nun, Kaph, Heh (חנכה). It is from Strong's concordance number 2598, and its defintion

From H2596; initiation, that is, consecration: - dedicating (-tion).

from 2596 khah-nakh (חנך), and its definition

A primitive root; properly to narrow (compare H2614); figuratively to initiate or discipline: - dedicate, train up.

HENRY COTTON (1789-1879)- THE FIVE BOOKS OF MACCABEES IN ENGLISH (1832)

Note: the 1st and 2nd Maccabees commonly in the Apocrypha is the 2nd and 3rd books in Cotton's book.

This is an account which talks about the upcoming time of Khanukkah, and it is noted in the book of Genesis

Genesis 18:1-15

Gen 18:1 And יהוה appeared unto him among the Oak trees of Mamre: and he was sitting at the entrance of the tent according to the heat of the day; 2 and lifted up (was bearing up) his eyes, and looked; and behold, Three Men were standing upon him: and saw, and ran to meet (encounter) Them from the entrance of the tent, and he bowed to the Earth, 3 And said, Adonai, if now I have found grace (favor) in Your Eyes, do you not now go over from upon Your servant: 4 Take now a little water, and wash Your feet, and stay (support) under the tree: 5 and I will fetch a morsel of bread, and refresh Your Hearts; afterward, You may go over: for upon thus You are going over upon Your servant. And They said, So you shall do as the which you have spoken.

6 And Abraham hurried (hastened) to the tent to Sarah, and said, Haste! (Hurry!) Three measures of grounded flour, knead, and do (make) baked cakes! 7 And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a tender and good son of a herd, and gave to the young man; and hurried (hasted) to do (prepare) him. 8 And he took butter (curdled milk, cheese), and kheylev-milk, and a son of the herd which had done (prepared), and was given to Their Faces; and he stood upon Them under the tree, and They ate.

9 And They said to him, Where is Sarah your woman (wife)? And said, Behold, is in the tent. 10 And said, Returning, I will return to you according to the time of life; and behold, a son shall be to Sarah, your woman (wife). And Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent, and he was behind him. 11 And Abraham and Sarah were old, going in the days; had ceased (idled) to be to Sarah the well travelled road (the manner) according to the women. 12 And Sarah, she laughed in her nearness, to say, After my failure, shall she be to me pleasure, and my lord being old? 13 And יהוה said to Abraham, To why at this did Sarah laugh, to say, That indeed (also), truly, I shall birth? And I, I am old? 14 Is a Word difficult from יהוה? I will return to you by the appointed time according to the time of life, and to Sarah shall be a son. 15 And Sarah, she denied, to say, I did not laugh; for she was afraid. And said, No; for you did laugh.

Based on my teaching "When Was Yeshua Born? Evidence Based On Scriptural Facts", Isaac was born on the first day of the Biblical High Holy Day of Sukkoth. This account would have most likely occurred around the time of the conception for Sarah which would fit in the time of Khanukkah in order for Isaac to be born on Sukkoth.

KHANUKKAH IN THE BRITH KHADASHAH

These are the accounts of Khanukkah in the Brith Khadashah

Luke 1:24-48

Luke 1:24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, 25 Thus hath יהוה dealt with me in the days wherein He looked on me, to take away my reproach among men. 26 And in the sixth month the Messenger Gabriel was sent from יהוה unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the Messenger came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, hwhy is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the Messenger said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with יהוה.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His Name, YESHUA. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and יהוה Elohim shall give unto Him the throne of His father, David: 33 And he shall reign over the House of Jacob for ever; and of his Kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the Messenger, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that Holy Thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of Elohim. 36 And, behold, thy cousin, Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with יהוה nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of יהוה; be it unto me according to thy word. And the Messenger departed from her.

Yeshua, the Messiah, was conceived during the festival of Khanukkah, and nine months later, Yeshua would have been born on the first day of Sukkoth.

YESHUA AND KHANUKKAH

Yeshua also observed Khanukkah, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 10:22-42

Joh 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the Feast of the Dedication [Khanukkah], and it was winter. 23 And Yeshua walked in the Temple in Solomon's Porch. 24 Then came the Jews round about Him, and said unto Him, How long dost Thou make us to doubt? If Thou be the Messiah, tell us plainly. 25 Yeshua answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's Name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of My sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear My Voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: 28 And I give unto them Eternal Life; and they shall never perish, neither shall a ny man pluck them out of My Hand. 29 My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's Hand. 30 I and My Father are One. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Yeshua answered them, Many Good Works have I shewed you from My Father; for which of those Works do ye stone Me? 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, For a Good Work we stone Thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that Thou, being a Man, makest Thyself Elohim. 34 Yeshua answered them, Is it not written in your Torah, I said, Ye are elohim? 35 If He called them elohim, unto whom the Word of hwhy came, and the Scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of Him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of Elohim? 37 If I do not the Works of My Father, believe Me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe notMe, believe the Works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in Me, and I in Him. 39 Therefore they sought again to take Him: but He escaped out of their hand, 40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there He abode. 41 And many resorted unto Him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this Man were true. 42 And many believed on Him there.
