MOUNT SINAI AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

Mount Sinai

Mount Sinai

This is Mount Sinai (known today as Jubal al Lawz) in Saudi Arabia

Mount Sinai

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AT MOUNT SINAI

Starting with the biblical account at Mount Sinai:

Exodus 19:1-25

Exo 19:1 In the third month, of the Sons of Israel going out from the land of Egypt, in this day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. 2 And they pulled up from Rephidim, and they came to the Wilderness of Sinai, and they camped in the wilderness; and Israel, they camped there before the mountain. 3 And Moses ascended to The Elohim, and hwhy called to him from the mountain, to say, Thus you shall say to the House of Jacob, and you shall tell to the Sons of Israel; 4 You, you have seen what I did to Egypt, and I bore you upon wings of eagles, and I brought you to Myself. 5 And now, if listening, you will listen in My voice, and you will keep ta-My covenant, and you will be to Me a special treasure from all the peoples: for all the earth is to Me: 6 And you, you shall be to Me a Kingdom of Priests, and a Holy Nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the Sons of Israel.

7 And Moses came and called to the elders of the people, and put to their faces
ta-all these words which hwhy commanded him. 8 And all the people, they answered together, and they said, All that hwhy has spoken, we will do. And Moses returned ta-the words of the people to hwhy.

9 And
hwhy said to Moses, Behold, I will come to you in a dark cloud, in order that the people may hear in My speaking with you, and also in you, they will believe Me for ages. And Moses told ta-the words of the people to hwhy.

10 And
hwhy said to Moses, Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and they shall wash their clothes, 11 And they will be ready for the third day: for in the third day, hwhy will come down to the eyes of all the people upon Mount Sinai. 12 And you shall border off ta-the people around, to say, Take heed to yourselves, you shall not ascend on the mount, or touching on his edge: all that touch on the mount, dying, shall die: 13 A hand, she shall not touch on him, for stoning, shall be stoned, or piercing, shall be pierced; if animal, if man, shall not live: in the long sound of the yovel-blast, they shall ascend on the mountain.

14 And Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified
ta-the people; and they washed their clothes. 15 And said to the people, Be ready for three days: you shall not go near to a woman.

16 And was in the third day in being the morning, and were sounds and lightnings, and a heavy cloud upon the mountain, and the voice of the shofar was very strong; and all the people who were in the camp, trembled. 17 And Moses brought
ta-the people from the camp to meet The Elohim; and they stood on the bottom of the mountain. 18 And Mount Sinai was smoking, all of him, from the facing which hwhy came down upon him in the fire: and his smoke ascended like the smoke of the furnace, and all of the mountain quaked much. 19 And was the sound of the shofar, continuing, and very strong, Moses spoke, and The Elohim answered him in a voice. 20 And hwhy came down upon Mount Sinai, to the head of the mountain: and hwhy called to Moses up to the head of the mountain; and Moses ascended.

21 And
hwhy said to Moses, Go down, testify (witness, warn) on the people, lest they break through to hwhy to see, and many from them will fall. 22 And also the priests, coming near to hwhy, they shall be sanctified, lest hwhy break forth on them. 23 And Moses said to hwhy, The people are not able to ascend to Mount Sinai: for you, you warned on us, to say, border ta-the mountain, and sanctify him. 24 And hwhy said to him, Away, go, descend, and you shall ascend, you, and Aaron with you: and the priests and the people , they shall not break through to ascend to hwhy, lest shall breach on themselves. 25 And Moses descended to the people, and spoke to them.

Exodus 20:1-26

Exo 20:1 And Elohim spoke ta all these words, to say,

2 I am
hwhy your Elohim, who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

3 Shall not be for yourselves, no other elohim upon My face.

4 You shall not make for yourself a vessel-image, and any likeness that is in the heavens from above, and that is in the earth below, and that is in the waters from under the earth: 5 You shalt not bow to them, and you shall not serve them: for I am
hwhy your Elohim, a jealous El, visiting the iniquity of the fathers, upon the sons, upon the thirds, and upon the fourths to those hating Me; 6 And doing mercy to thousands to those loving Me, and to those keeping My commandments.

7 You shalt not exalt
ta-the name of, hwhy your Elohim for destructivness (uselessness, vanity); for hwhy will not leave guiltless ta whoever exalts ta-His name for destructiveness (uselessness, vanity).

8 Remember
ta-the Shabbath Day, to sanctify him. 9 Six days you shall serve, and you shall do all your work: 10 And the seventh day is the Shabbath of hwhy your Elohim: You shall not do any work, you, and your son, and your daughter, your male servant, and your female servant, and your animal, and your stranger who is in your gates: 11 For six days, hwhy made ta-the heavens and ta-the earth, ta-the sea, and ta-all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day: upon thus, hwhy blessed ta-the Shabbath day, and sanctified him.

12 Honor
ta-your father and ta-your mother: by that, your days may be long upon the ground which hwhy your Elohim is giving to you.

13 You will not murder.

14 You will not commit adultery.

15 You will not steal.

16 You will not have a false witness testify on your neighbour.

17 You will not lust the house of your neighbour, you shall not lust the wife of your neighbor, and his male servant, and his female servant, and his ox, and his donkey, and any thing that is of your neighbor.

18 And all the people saw ta-the sounds, and ta-the flashings, and ta the sound of the shofar, and ta-the mountain smoking: and the people saw, and they removed, and they stood from a distance. 19 And they said to Moses, You speak with us, and we will listen: and let not Elohim speak with us, lest we die. 20 And Moses said to the people, Do you not fear: for by in order that The Elohim has come to test you, and in order that His fear , she may be upon your faces, by that you may not sin. 21 And the people stood from a distance, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where there is The Elohim.

22 And
hwhy said to Moses, Thus, you shall say to the sons of Israel, You, you have seen that I have spoken with you from the heavens. 23 You shall not make with Me elohim of silver, and you shall not make for yourselves elohim of gold. 24 An altar of ground you shall make for Me, and you shall sacrifice upon him ta-your Elevation Offerings, and ta-your Peace Offerings, ta-your flocks, and ta-your herds: in all the places which I memorialize ta-My name; I will come to you, and will bless you. 25 And if you will make for Me an altar of stones, you shall not build them of hewn stone: for your cutting tool will chisel upon her, and you will profane her. 26 And you will not ascend on steps upon My altar, that you will not uncover your nakedness upon him.

THE TIMELINE FROM RAMESES TO MOUNT SINAI

I did some research on the dates and days of the week starting from the fourteenth of Aviv in the book of Exodus, and I calculated that it was the day, of the third month, of the Seventeenth of Sivan, when hwhy came down on the mountain, and it was on the first day of the week, which I will reveal shortly. Looking at Exodus chapter nineteen, verses one and two again, this is what it says

Exodus 19:1-2

Exo 19:1 In the third month, of the Sons of Israel going out from the land of Egypt, in this day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. 2 And they pulled up from Rephidim, and they came to the Wilderness of Sinai, and they camped in the wilderness; and Israel, they camped there before the mountain.

The fact that it says "in this day" means that it was 'the same day' in which the Israelites arrived at Mount Sinai as the day they left Egypt, and the book of Numbers revealed the day they came out of Ramses, mentioned in the books of Exodus and Numbers

Numbers 33:3

Num 33:
3 And they pulled up from Rameses in the first month, in the fifteenth day of the first month; from after the Passover, they went out, the Sons of Israel, among a high hand to the eyes of all the Egypt.

This means that the Israelites arrived at Mount Sinai on the fifteenth day of the third month of Sivan, sixty days later, after leaving Rameses.

This is a timeline of the events of Israel's journey from Rameses, Egypt to Mount Sinai

*Night of the 14th day of Aviv: The "Exodus Passover" ([Shabbat]).

*Morning of the 15th day of Aviv: Israel leaves Egypt on the 1st day of Feast of Unleavened Bread (First day of the week [1st day of the Omer]).

*15th-20th of Aviv: Israelites travelled to Yam Suph on the 1st-6th days of Feast of Unleavened Bread (First day thru Sixth day of the week [1st day thru 6th day of the Omer]).

*Near the end of the 20th of Aviv: Israelites arrive at Nuweiba Beach at Yam Suph, 6th day of Unleavened Bread (6th day of the week [6th day of the Omer]).

*21st of Aviv: Isrealites rested at Nuweiba Beach at Yam Suph, the 7th day of Feast of Unleavened Bread  (Shabbat [7th day of the Omer]).

*9th-12th hour of night on 22st day of Aviv: Israel crosses Yam Suph (First day of the week [8th day of the Omer]).

*22st-24rd of Aviv: Israel in the Wilderness of Shur (First day-Third day of the week [8th day-10th day of the Omer]).

*24rd of Aviv: Israel arrived at Marah (Third day of the week [10th day of the Omer]).

*15th day of 2nd month of Iyar: Israel arrives at the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai (Third day of the week [31st day of the Omer]).

*Evening of the 16th day of 2nd month of Iyar: Quails came down from heaven in the Wilderness of Sin  (Fourth day of the week [32nd day of the Omer]).

*Morning of the 16th day of 2nd month of Iyar: The first manna came down in the Wilderness of Sin (Fourth day of the week [32nd day of the Omer]).

*16th thru 20th of 2nd month of Iyar (possibly longer than that): Israelites still in the Wilderness of Sin (Fourth day thru First day of the following week (possibly longer than that) [32nd thru 36th day of the Omer (possibly longer than that)]).

*Between late 2nd month of Iyar thru early 3rd month of Sivan: Israelites arrival to Rephidim and the Israelites battle against the Amalekites in Rephidim (unkown [between late in the Omer count and after Shavuoth]).

*15th day of 3rd month of Sivan: Israelites arrived at the Wilderness of Sinai and settled near Mount Sinai (Sixth day).

*15th thru 17th days of Sivan: Israelites sanctified themselves (Sixth day thru Shabbat).

*Morning of 17th day of of the 3rd month of Sivan: hwhy comes down to the mountain in fire and speaks out The Ten Commandments (First day of week).

OTHER BIBLICAL ACCOUNTS OF MOUNT SINAI

This next source is a biblical account of Elijah at Mount Sinai:

1 Kings 19:1-18

1Ki 19:1 And Ahab told Jezebel
ta all that Elijah had done, and ta withal how he had slain ta-all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not ta-thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. 3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left ta-his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for ta-himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, hwhy, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. 5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. 7 And the angel of hwhy came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. 8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb, the mount of The Elohim. 9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of hwhy came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for hwhy Elohim of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down ta-thine altars, and slain ta-thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek ta-my life, to take it away. 11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before hwhy. And, behold, hwhy passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before hwhy; but hwhy was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but hwhy was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but hwhy was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? 14 And he said, I have been very jealous for hwhy Elohim of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down ta-thine altars, and slain ta-thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek ta-my life, to take it away. 15 And hwhy said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint ta-Hazael to be king over Syria: 16 And ta-Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and ta-Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. 17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. 18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

As it says, Horeb is Mount Sinai.

In the book of Galatians, Paul, without saying it, went to Mount Sinai:

Galatians 1:17

Gal 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

There is no other reason for Paul to go to Arabia unless he was going to Mount Sinai.

ELEMENTAL EVENTS SIMILAR TO MOUNT SINAI IN THE BRITH KHADASHAH

These are some Gospel events that are indirectly related to this event:

Matthew 17:1-8

Mat 17:1 And after six days Yeshua taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Yeshua, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Yeshua came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Yeshua only.

Mark 9:2-8

Mar 9:2 And after six days Yeshua taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. 4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Yeshua. 5 And Peter answered and said to Yeshua, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

Yeshua was on the top of the mountain and was transfigured into his glory apparel, like the fire that came down at Mount Sinai. He was accompanied by Moses- symbolic to the Torah, and Elijah- symbolic to the Prophets.

The Heavenly Father spoke to the Apostles there, like at Mount Sinai, where He spoke The Ten Commandments to the Israelites.

This next gospel account is about different interpretations of sounds

John 12:20-29

Joh 12:20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: 21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. 22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Yeshua. 23 And Yeshua answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. 27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

This gospel event showed that some heard the sound of lightning and some thought an Angel spoke, like at Sinai when people heard lightnings and thunders and the shofar blowing.

In Acts chapter one Yeshua tells his disciples how He will return:

Acts 1:4-12

Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Yeshua, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. 12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

Yeshua was taken up in a cloud at Mount Olivet and will return in a cloud, like the fire in the smoke on top of Mount Sinai.

Finally, There are similarities between the events in Mount Sinai and Pentecost:

Mount Sinai in Exodus chapters 19 and 20 Pentecost (Shavuoth) at
Jerusalem in Acts chapter 2
hwhy came down on the head of Mount Sinai. The Ruakh HaKodesh came down on the head of the disciples.
hwhy came down in fire on the mount. The Ruakh HaKodesh came down in a toungue of fire on the discples' heads.
There were sounds of lightning, thundering, and shofar blowing on the mountain. There was a sound of rushing wind in the disciples' room.
hwhy "spoke" The Ten Words (Commandments). The disciples spoke in various languages or tongues.
